How to use the Zotfile custom folder as default for new imports?

I am trying to set up a custom folder out of the Zotero data folder to keep everything organised with Zotfile. When I import a .bib file it works fine. I am moving out of Papers for mac, so my .bib files have a local-url pointing to the pdf in my Papers library. Pdfs get copied and renamed in the Zotfile folder under the naming structure I specified, great!

However when I drag in a new pdf, it still goes to the Zotero data folder ( User/Zotero/Storage/234ABC67/myfile.pdf on mac)

How do I make the Zotfile folder the default?
Also: is there a way to batch copy/rename all the files from the Zotero data folder to the Zotfile folder?

    Unfortunately Zotfile doesn't handle auto-rename&move from drag&dropped files (for legacy reasons, to put it briefly). There's no alternative to handling those manually. I hope that ZotFile will address this going forward.

    You can select any number of items in Zotero and use manage attachments --> rename attachments to move (! - not copy) and rename files according to ZotFile specifications.

    need to figure out a good workflow for this. There doesn't seem to be a way to advanced search for items which have a linked attachment vs. pdf in the Zotero data folder, that would have made it easier
