Adding citation with MS Word plugin jumps location in doc

I'm using the MS word plugin with Word 2016, and when I complete the insertion of a citation, I am returned to a far-off location in the document and have to scroll back to my former location to keep writing. This is annoying and I am wondering how to stop it.

    Update: the location I was being flung to was a zotero bibliography field. I deleted that field and now the jump no longer occurs.
