import from ReferenceManager

I am trying to transfer my data base of about 10,000 records from ReferenceManager (v.12) to Zotero (v. 5.0.52), running under Windows 10. Following the Zotero help instructions I first used an Endnote XML file exported from RefrenceManager. Zotero hung up after a while without error message, after having imported ~3,600 records successfully (Zotero still showed the “importing” message; I knew that it hung up only because the Windows task manager showed a drop in CPU usage). I then exported my data base to a text file in RIS format (because that was easier to modify in a text editor than xml) and deleted the records that Zotero had apparently imported already, and tried to import the rest. Zotero again hung up, this time with an error message, after importing ~3000 records (Zotero Error Report #1187151871). I had to repeat this procedure, importing 2 more RIS txt files, until Zotero finally signaled “import complete” showing 1,044 records. Looking at the results I find that Zotero attached/stored my pdfs for some of the records, but not others. Could that be the difference between using XML and RIS? How can I get Zotero to import the entire XML file?

    The code that imports files is pretty similar for the two. Can you find any pattern to which files Zotero does/does not import from the RIS.
