Item type for collected works of an author or edition of a book

I want to cite the introductory note written by the editor of a book which is not an edited volume but the edition of an author's classical book or the collected works of a given author. How should I do that?
  • Simply adding an editor to the original book entry does not work because what I want to cite is the editor's note, not the book. If A is the author of "xyz", published in 1883 and B is the editor who republished the book adding their introductory note "introduction" in 1923, I want to cite (B 1923) not (A 1923). and i really don't want - as it would happen in case I used the item type "book section" - to see in the bibliography "B introduction in A (ed.) xyz 1923" What would you recommend?

You should enter this as a Book Section item with the editor as the Editor of the item, and the author of the original work as "Book Author". This is the intended way of storing things like introductions to republished works. You should also add this to Extra:
    Original date: 1883

This will yield a citation like this one:
EditorLastName, A. (Ed.). (1923). Introduction. In B. BookAuthorLastName, Book title. New York: Publisher. (Original work published 1883)
