Chicago 17th ed (author-date) question

Sir:
I am troubleshooting following situation.
=text start=
this one, (Lamola et al. 1981) two, (Adachi, Uesugi, and Kamisaka 1985) three (J D Ostrow and Branham 1970a) and four. (J D Ostrow and Branham 1970b)

aa (Odell, Natzschka, and Storey 1967)
bb (J Donald Ostrow et al. 2004)
=text end=
As seen above, the third, fourth and sixth citations have first (middle) name(s), whereas the others do not.

Bibliography looks like

I am using libreoffice 6.0.4.2 zotero 4.0.29.16 on Linux. Chicago auther-date 17th ed (dated 22/May/2018)

I have checked zotero record -> they look good on its pane.
The first citation (Lamola et al) disguises as (AA Lamola et al) on some other document. -> I have not found when it goes wrong. It is reproducible within a given document. But not across documents.
16th ed of chicago is also affected.

I have not figured out which of zotero, libreoffice or linux (sqlite or whatever) causes problem.

Could this be a zotero problem?

I appreciate any suggestion.

cheers
