Issue saving date of publication from online article into library

Hello, when I save an article from online into my Zotero library the date of publication does not seem to transfer. I can add this manually and it populates my word document but I would prefer not to take the extra step. Is there a setting that I might need to adjust so that Zotero reads the online reference metadata to include the date of publication correctly?
