Shared Libraries: is online account required?

I have set up a private group with a shared library for a project. Do members have to have an online Zotero account to join or can they join from their local account?

Also, can people join who use other bibliographic programs such as RefWorks or Mendeley?

    Zotero groups require a Zotero account. Other reference managers cannot sync with Zotero groups.

    Thank you. Do you need an online version of Zotero to access groups, or can you just use a local version on your computer?

    You need to create an online account, have the owner of the shared libraries invite you to the libraries, then you must sign-in to your account within the zotero application and sync the app for the libraries to auto-populate within the application
