ZoteroBib + EBSCO/ProQuest Search Permalinks

Is there any trick to getting EBSCOHost/ProQuest permalinks working with ZoteroBib? Or does it just not work yet? Missing something else?

Example links:

http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&db=f3h&AN=123949270&scope=site

https://search.proquest.com/docview/1700974155?accountid=2694

Doesn't seem to matter if the link is proxied or not.

  • Yeah, those won't work in their current state. EBSCO doesn't use permalinks (i.e., the URL doesn't say what you're looking at), and ProQuest is completely gated, so it's not possible to see what you're viewing unless you're authenticated or using a proxy. The former can't be fixed. The latter could potentially be fixed, but it's fairly unlikely.

If there's a DOI or ISBN on the page, you can obviously paste that in instead.

In this case, for the second one, a Google Search finds the book review on Project MUSE, which can be imported into ZoteroBib. Not ideal if you want to cite the ProQuest one, but it could work as a starting point.
  • Figured as much, thanks for the explanation.
