Cannot edit style
Good day,
I ma new to Zotero and I am trying to edit the Journal of Animal Ecology style (which date back to 2013...) but I can't manage. In the style editor window, on the top right list, I only have access to a few of the styles I downloaded. For instance, Journal of Zoology is also absent. If I open the cal file with a text application I have the following:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
Journal of Animal Ecology
http://www.zotero.org/styles/journal-of-animal-ecology
0021-8790
1365-2656

What can I do about this?
Thanks!
Stephanie
PS: I run Zotero 5.0.47 on MacOS High Sierra 0.13.4

Search for journal-of-animal-ecology. there you could click on edit and edit the style. You'll see though that it's actually a dependent style. You would need to edit that or make your own independent style.
What seems to be wrong with the style? Maybe we can help here.
I did as suggested and the style is the exact same as the one I downloaded directly here: https://www.zotero.org/styles. It was last updated in 2013. Clicking on edit style doesn't do anything for me though...
I still can't see the style preview in cite/styles/style preview. I then download the independent parent style (http://www.zotero.org/styles/british-ecological-society), which I can see in preview and does seem to be correct given the journal specifications.
So what I did is simply copy paste the content from the parent style into the Journal of Animal Ecology style and saved it as a custom style I can now edit as I wish!
What is wrong with the style though? We'd prefer to make these changes for all the 1000s of users of CSL styles rather than just one single person. ;)
