multiple author citations using & rather than the word and

When I cite a resource with multiple authors, zotero will put in (Rogers-Shaw, Carr-Chellman, & Choi, 2018).

According to APA, it should look like
(Rogers-Shaw, Carr-Chellman, and Choi, 2018)

Is there a way to change this without having to catch it every time I put in a journal with multiple authors?

    (Rogers-Shaw, Carr-Chellman, and Choi, 2018)
Not sure why you think that -- the ampersand (&) is one of the most noticeable markers of APA style. You can use a different citation style (e.g. Chicago uses "and") but if you want to use APA style, you'll want to use &
  • Hi Adam, thanks for your response. I think I confused it. When writing it out: According to Rogers-Shaw, Carr-Chellman, and Choi (2018), I need to use "and", but when it is cited at the end of the sentence, (Rogers-Shaw, Carr-Chellman, & Choi, 2018) it needs the "&). I guess Zotero is doing it right, I am just doing it wrong.
  • Yes, the only time APA uses "and" is if you refer to authors in text. All parenthetical citations and bibliography entries use "&".
