Import fail on 3 large imports
Report ID: 1178283076
Zotero version: 5.0.44
I ran several (6) imports of abstracts & reference information for journal articles at once. 4 used RIS; 2 used BIBText. These 6 files came from 4 databases: PsycINFO, Academic Search Ultimate, Scopus, & ProQuest. 3 of the imports did not finish; I received an error message before they completed.
The ones that crashed had a large number of entries, with only a few successfully downloading (803/3353 items downloaded; 519/2000 downloaded; 815/2088 items downloaded).
I believe this was my error message with each of them: “An error occurred while trying to import the file. Please ensure the file is valid and try again.” (apologies; I can’t remember the exact message because I’ve searched so many forums trying to figure out how to fix it that I forgot my exact message. It was the same error message for all 3).
When reading through the error text when getting the report ID, I saw several "out of memory" bits of code, but I don't remember that statement being in the error message I received for these crashes.
My Questions
1) Is there a way to restart the import for the 3 that crashed? Can I pick up where I left off without re-downloading the entire file again and creating extra duplicates just from downloading the same file twice?
2) Some forums suggest editing the file itself (reducing the number of lines in the file, splitting the number of items in each file to make them smaller). I don’t know how to edit BIBtext or RIS files because they were just downloaded from these databases. If that’s the only solution, how do I edit these filetypes?
Apologies; I’m very new to Zotero and may get confused by responses, but I would appreciate any recommendations.
