Zotero Standalone won't stay open

Whenever I try to open Zotero Standalone (5.0 for Windows) it gives me the following message:

Error: Zotero 'system' DB version (10067) is newer than SQL file (32)
Zotero.Schema</_updateSchema<@chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/schema.js:1552:10

When I try to look for updates, it says there are no updates available. When I confirm, Zotero automatically closes.

I am also using Juris-M (which works perfectly).
  • It sounds like you're trying to run Zotero and juris-m on the same database or at least trying to run Zotero on a database previously updated by juris-m. That's not possible.
  • @gfcolombo Exactly as @adamsmith says. Possibly you had installed a copy of MLZ much earlier, when it modified the Zotero database directly.

To run Zotero on the system, locate your Zotero data directory, following advice here:

    https://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data

The file was probably installed in the Zotero 4.0 days, so check in those locations. The file you are looking for is zotero.sqlite. Rename it to something else, like zotero.sqlite.BAK. Then try to run Zotero again. If it starts up, register it to sync to your account, sync the client, and you'll be all set.
