Zotero Connector throws Javascript errors in Firefox 59

Hello,

I can see these Javascript errors in the advanced tab of my Zotero Connector in Firefox 59. The first and last error occurs quite often in the log while the second and third one are there only once. These are the errors and they were partly there already after installing the Firefox extension:

[JavaScript Error: "Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist." {file: "undefined"}]

  • The connector (like any tool correcting debugging information) will collect error messages even when working correctly. You can disregard them unless something is actually not working -- is that the case?
  • More and more errors are logged but I can add new entries from Firefox to my library. I didn't notice any heavy errors but I'm a newbie of this software so most likely I won't notice if something is missing or would work better than it works right now. Usually, no error messages should occur in normal usage.

On the other side, this kind of logging is lacking a lot of useful information so hard to see what's wrong/broken.
  • This is placed under "Advanced" for good reasons. You can really just ignore unless you're actually experiencing problems.

User-facing errors are in plain language.

  • Ah, this makes sense to me now. Thanks for your clarification!
  • I have the same logs and my firefox add on doesn't work anymore. What can I do?
  • @jdolinga: You should start a new thread, provide a Report ID, and explain exactly what the problem is that you're experiencing.
