error importing refererences with accents from www3.interscience.wiley.com

I have noticed some errors in the accents of imported references such as é è and ñ (as in El Niño--I study atmospheric science and have LOTS of those).

The offending articles were imported from www3.interscience.wiley.com
Import with EITHER the site translator, or an EndNote file (by clicking on the "Download citation" link), result in errors in all accented characters.

Here are some specific examples

http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/journal/112604855/abstract
"Valria "instead of "Valéria" in the author
"Nio" instead of "Niño" in the abstract

"Nio" instead of "Niño" in the abstract

I have imported articles with accents (from another site) without problems e.g

System:
Ubuntu 9.04
FIrefox 3.0.10
Zotero 2.0b3

Thanks!
  • The problem is related to the "Import Character Encoding" in the Zotero prefs.

Had a similar problem with a RIS file (UTF-8) from agu.org, the EndNote file was ISO-8859.

Things work fine now, after changing the prefs (to ISO-859 and UTF-8) a few times. I thought they were set to auto-detect before, and are now still. Perhaps a bug, hard to reproduce.
