How can I exclude the weblink portion in the bibliography

When I cite a reference, it automatically include the "online" or "available from" part in the bibliography. How can I not include this part by default?
  • Try turning off the "Include URLs of paper articles in references" preference on the export tab of the preference pane.

I still have problem. But this seems the setting of Zotero. When I turned off the preference "Include URLs of paper articles in references", it still include URLs for some references when no page number specified. However, I don't want the URLs even the reference has no page information. Some of our important references usually don't show page number.

Then you must edit the CSL style file.
Some of our important references usually don't show page number.
As in they are electronic? If so, what style are you using. While there are notable exceptions (MLA v7, for example), most styles dictate that you should include URLs for these (to allow an article to be located easily. The direction of a style guide re. URLs is usually reflected in the CSL files. If you feel like a certain style includes URLs when the guide says that it shouldn't, we should resolve it.
  • I use American Geophysical Union (AGU) style. AGU journals such as Journal of Geophysical Research, Water Resources Research don't include page number in the citation for their own papers, as the page is renumbered for each paper. It can be easily checked in their website as every paper include a Citation item for itself under the abstract, which is open to public review.

I think Zotero should provide the choice for user to include or not include URLs when citing references in a word processor.
  • Those have page numbers; The page number for:
    http://www.agu.org/journals/jd/jd0910/2008JD011239/
    is D10301
  • It may be looked as page number, but is not same as common page numbers. And Zotero can not capture it.

It is an article ID & it is treated in citations as if it were a page number. The AIP does the same thing.
And Zotero can not capture it.
It is absent from the RIS export. But I think that it would be better if Zotero did capture it and use it as a page number.
