UCL off-campus proxy settings?

Hello everyone,

I went back to Zotero after a short love story with Paperpile (a great software, but still in need of some adjustments before it can compete with Zot).

I was spoiled, though, by the easiness of their proxy setting - seamless auto-setting, and I had to log in on the proxy once every other day, and then I could easily download almost everything with a single click even when I was off-campus.

With Zotero 5.0, things does seem more complicated than that (?). On the plugin documentation (https://www.zotero.org/support/connector_preferences#proxies_preferences), the process seems a piece of cake, since the plugin is supposed to prompt you if you want to save a proxy access whenever it detects one. Only, it doesn't seem to detect UCL proxy.

I tried to fumble with the proxy settings of the (Chrome) plugin, following guidelines for previous versions of Zotero (https://wiki.ucl.ac.uk/display/LibraryServices/Zotero+and+UCL+Library+resources):

But to no avail. I tried to use the URL that appears on Paperpile:

https://libproxy.ucl.ac.uk/login?url=$@

But still nothing.

Any help out there ?

How should look the proxied page URL? For example, I use proxy of National Technical Library of the Czech. and proxied page looks like https://www-scopus-com.ezproxy.techlib.cz. In the proxy setting I use:
configuration of proxy: %h.ezproxy.techlib.cz/%p
(to the login page, I am redirected automatically)
hostname: www.scopus.com

EDIT: In most cases, I do not use a proxy functionality of Zotero due to I use EZProxy redirection extension for Chrome https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ezproxy-redirect/gfhnhcbpnnnlefhobdnmhenofhfnnfhi respectively https://addons.mozilla.org/cs/firefox/addon/ezproxy-redirect-foxified/ for Firefox.

Yes, I'm surprised Zotero doesn't recognize that.

As LiborA asks, could you post a couple of proxied URLs here (i.e. the URL that you see after having authenticated through your library from off-campus).

I have the same issue, all proxies with an https:// have their . replaced with an -. Since https:// is becoming increasingly common I would love to see this issue resolved. There seems to be something in the source though: https://github.com/zotero/zotero/blob/7a062a74930c7ef398c8792188a8a6604538ac30/chrome/content/zotero/xpcom/proxy.js#L471

Zotero does recognize https + hyphenation. As per above

Ok, so actually this seems to be an issue due to that there are shifts in the https:// and my previous proxy was defined with http:// as below:

I reset and recreated the proxy with just '%h.proxy.kib.ki.se/%p' and it seems to work. Perhaps a warning could be emitted when entering the proxies to notify users.

Zotero should be able to update these though. People shouldn't typically need to manually do anything in the proxy settings, which is why there are no notifications.
