PDF are not downloaded automatically

In most cases, I have a problem to download pdf directly with the Zotero connector and I have to download them manually. For example these articles:

How are you authenticating exactly? Are you using some sort of proxy?
And do open access articles on SD work, e.g. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0028393217302701 ?

For ScienceDirect I use EZ proxy of Czech National Technical Library. I have to authenticate by name and password and the URL looks like https://www.sciencedirect.com.ezproxy.techlib.cz/science/article/pii/S0028393217302440?via=ihub
For Nature I do not use any proxy.
Currently, I am sitting at home so I use a direct connection to the internet. But I have this problem in my work too, and there I am behind the institutional proxy server.

because I'd expect that to cause an https issue.
Most proxies hyphenate https adresses as in https://www-sciencedirect-com.ezproxy.techlib.cz/science/article/pii/S0028393217302440?via=ihub

Do you have the proxy set up in the Zotero connector?

Yes, I have. I've tried to open URL https://www-sciencedirect-com.ezproxy.techlib.cz/science/article/pii/S0028393217302440?via=ihub but it is automatically converted to https://www.sciencedirect.com.ezproxy.techlib.cz/science/article/pii/S0028393217302440?via=ihub

And yes, it seems as https is problematic, I see this chars red and strikethrough

I bet that's the problem then -- @dstillman would know details, but I think Zotero will just refuse an insecure https connection which would explain why this isn't downloaded.
When you click on the symbol next to https, what's the exact warning that you get?

On another hand - nature.com is not proxied and the https chars are green. But the download also does not work.

That sounds like you accepted a certificate override in your browser at some point? While it's possible to get that override into Zotero, it's very strongly discouraged you do that. You should really talk to your library about this. It's hard to overstate what a terrible practice it is to have users override security certificates.

You don't see a https warning on the nature page, do you? (OK, see your answer above)

Add certificate - you are right, I agree, this is not the best solution. I tried to communicate it with NTL about one year ago but their answer/suggestion was to add exemptions.
Add nature - yes, there is not https warning.

These are the cert override instructions: https://www.zotero.org/support/kb/cert_override it's a bad idea, but it's the only way this will work in Zotero.

You tried updating your translators from the connector with Nature, right?
@dstillman could you check out D1411498706 for why the PDF doesn't download/attach?

I've copied the cert_override.txt from Firefox profile to Zotero profile and restart Zotero. But nothing changed. I've tried it in Chrome and in Firefox.

Yeah, this is a really bad practice on your library's part. While certificate exceptions have their place (e.g., during development, or even for a personal proxy server), end users should never be asked to do it. And this is an EZproxy, which has an HttpsHyphens option for this purpose.

I would nevertheless expect the cert override to work, but that's not something we can spend time debugging.

For Nature, we'd need a Debug ID from Zotero, not from the Connector.

You're trying to save to a public group, so you can't save files to it.

Oh, yes, you are right. I use this collection for CSL templates testing purposes and forgot that this is the public group.
