Zotero chrome connector not working

I have been a user of zotero mozilla user for last 1 month. but if i try the google chrome connector, though the extension of zotero connector is displayed, still when i click it to download publications from database, it does show the popup window to my zotero standalone in my desktop as it shows in chrome and also no database capture takes place. Can anyone guide me , how to make the chrome extension of zotero workable ? I am planning on to switch on to my chrome browser as my chrome browser is a bit faster than firefox
