The red Zotero citation dialogue box opens momentarily and then disappears

Hi! When I attempt to create a new citation, by way of "add/edit citation" and while in an already created MS Word footnote, the red Zotero citation dialogue box opens momentarily and then disappears. Subsequently, in front of my Word documents the Zotero screen with designated library is open.

Hmmmmmm. Any thoughts?
