"Detaching" attachments
Hi,
Years ago when I imported my Papers collection to Zotero, a lot of my entries were PDF files with no wrapper. When imported to Zotero (I forget now which method I used), these were given a "Parent Item" wrapper with the same name as the PDF.
Here's the problem: I want to use the PDF Metadata to fill in the parent item. BUT since the PDFs are already attached, I can't select that option. I know I can detach an attachment by dragging it out of the parent item, but since I have hundreds of these this doesn't seem like a feasible approach.
So is there a way to either:
(i) Bulk-detach attachments out of their parent item?
or
(ii) Fill in a parent item based on the metadata of an attached PDF?
Many thanks,
JLT

adamsmithNo to those two questions. What I'd do is to use Zotfile (www.zotfile.com) to send all those PDFs to a new folder (using "send to tablet") and then drag them back to Zotero and retrieve metadata from them. You'd then just delete the originally created items.
