First name error displaying

Hello, I have a problem displaying names properly in the plain text.

I am using Word 15.40 / Zotero Standalone 5.0.28 / Safari 11.0.1

When I need to insert a reference in the plain text in a word document (not the bibliography), the first name is displayed (in APA 6th edition) whereas it should not.

The strange thing is that it is the case for a few references (around 6 out of 130). To display it properly, then I have to erase the first name off from Zotero. The consequence is that it is no more displayed in the bibliography whereas it should be.

Does anyone have a solution so that I can register the first name in Zotero and make sure it is not displayed in the plain text in the word document and displayed in the bibliography ?

Don’t delete the names from your data. Instead, just make sure that an author’s name is entered the same way for every item (i.e., always as Smith, John A., rather than sometimes as Smith, John A.; Smith, J. A.; Smith, John; etc.).

If names or initials still appear when you are sure that the names are consistent in your data, Zotero is probably following correct style—APA requires that authors with the same last name but different first names get initials or spelled out names—even if the years or coauthors are different.
