Get full metadata without proxy redirection

Hello,

From my tests on publisher portals (ScienceDirect, SpringerLink and Wiley), the Zotero connector can't get the authors and abstract metadata if we access the website via our university proxy, unless the proxy is set in the Zotero connector *and* proxy redirection is enabled.

However automatic proxy redirection can be a mess as our university proxy is not always reliable. We would prefer let the user choose.

I thought the problem was similar to https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/68218/zoteros-sciencedirect-downloader-does-not-work-now#latest but apparently it is not.

Could you post some sample URLs here, including the proxy? I don't think this is a general issue, but there would be situations where Zotero simply doesn't recognize a URL as belonging to a publisher with proxy redirection turned on and that might be the case here.

Sure, for example for ScienceDirect:
- Direct link: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S095006181731810X
- Proxy link: https://extranet.enpc.fr:2086/science/article/pii/S095006181731810X

All the proxy URLs are build on the same way. Maybe the shortening of the URL with a proxy number is the real issue here (instead of having https://extranet.enpc.fr/login?url=https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S095006181731810X)

right, I don't think that'll work without full proxy support enabled, I'm afraid. Zotero doesn't recognize these as, say, ScienceDirect URLs otherwise.

Ok thanks for your confirmation, I'll presurize my IT department to change the way our proxy handles URLs. If it doesn't work I'll come back to the forum.
