Can't access library after upgrade

After upgrade to 5.0 I get the message: "Make sure you have read and write permissions for all files in the Zotero data directory and that security software isn’t preventing Zotero from accessing that directory."
All the files in my Zotero library have rw permission for me. What else is needed?
  • That error just means something is preventing Zotero from accessing something in your Zotero data directory — it could be permissions or it could be security software.
  • OK, who is supposed to be the owner of the zotero database files? Who should be the group owner? Should the owner code be 644, which is what I have now or what? I don't think I have any security software restrictions.
  • They just need to have normal r/w permissions for your user account.

    If they do (and they should unless you moved them from another system or previous ran Zotero as root), it's likely security software. If this is Linux, that'd be something like AppArmor, SELinux, etc.
