Got new computer, but unable to locate zotero storage from old drive's backup

Hello!
My old computer crashed for good, but I have TimeMachine backups on an external drive. Now I got a new computer, opened Zotero, and of course there is no library. But I'm also unable to locate the Zotero resources from the backup. I was using Zotero 4.0.29.15, and it was not synced online. I was using Macbook Pro, now I'm on Macbook Air.
I found from the online instructions that it is supposed to be located at Library/Application Support/Zotero/etc, but when I go through my harddrive backups, there's no Zotero folder under Application Support. Also no file called zotero.sqlite.bak or zotero.sqlite. The finder just can't find them, and I have been going through all my backupped files without being able to find them. I only found this: Microsoct User Data/Word Script Menu Items/Zotero but this doesn't contain zotero.sqlite file nor the storage.
Has anyone gone through similar trouble?
Maybe with version 4, the storage was saved somewhere else and/or under different name? What could this be? Any other ideas how to locate my storage and to be able to continue with Zotero? As we all know, it contains years of research material.
I'm very grateful for your help and any leads!
THANK YOU!
  • Do you remember if you were using Standalone or the Firefox add-on?
  • I'm actually not etirely sure, I was downloading and adding sources via Firefox indeed.

The two default paths to check are

    /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Zotero/Profiles/<randomstring>/zotero

    and

    /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/<randomstring>/zotero

Note these include hidden folders on a Mac, so make sure you show hidden folders.
  • Amazing! It worked! Great many thanks! Indeed, the files were just hidden.
