Idea: zotero image displayer
I would like to put forward this: how about a Zotero graphic interface that displays artwork entries on an infinite CAD-like plane? I imagine this as a filter that shows the results of a query in the database. e.g. "show all artwork items tagged «Firenze»". If these images would then be aftwerwards movable on the screen, similar to postcards on a table, one could dispose of a digital Warburg's mnemosyne atlas. (:
I would really like to develop this but I am not a programmer, and I do not know if this is an easy or an hard program. If anybody out there is eager to develop this project I am willing to learn some programming or do whatever to improve the project.

adamsmithThe center that produces Zotero has just released https://tropy.org/ which would seem to fill the need you're looking for.

giacomo.mercurialidear @adamsmith that's a great news! I am really happy to see this new tool. I'll get in touch with their developers team to propose the UI
