Which AMA format will correctly abbreviate journal titles?

I have tried American Medical Association and American Medical Writers Association Journal and both are incorrect in that they do not abbreviate journal names. So sick of this! Tried Zotero hoping it would be better than Easybib and others which also fail to do this. :(

    They both do. Automated abbreviations work best when you're using the word processor add-in. If you create references from within Zotero ("Create Bibliography from selected items") Zotero uses the content of the Journal Abbreviation field. Whether that's populated depends on where you import from. E.g. importing from Pubmed will consitently do this.

    Ok, thanks. I guess I haven't figured out how to do this yet. I couldn't figure out how to import to Word, so added it to clipboard and it was not abbreviated in that format. Will have to keep working with it.
