APA format and government websites (Report ID 2084191939)

Some websites, such as government websites are not being retrieved or formatted correctly. One example: When saved to library and then selected for "Create Bibliography" the following site
(https://www.fda.gov/aboutfda/whatwedo/history/milestones/ucm128305.htm)

becomes:

“Milestones in U.S. Food and Drug Law History - Significant Dates in U.S. Food and Drug Law History.” WebContent. Accessed October 2, 2017. https://www.fda.gov/AboutFDA/WhatWeDo/History/Milestones/ucm128305.html.

Thank you.
  • That doesn’t look like APA at all. Check that you are creating the bibliography using APA and not another style.
  • But also -- if you just save a webpage, you will often have to manually complete data to get correct citations.
  • Thanks for the quick response, bwiernik, Yes, I went back, right clicked, "Create Bibliography," chose APA 6th addition. I tried it again to be sure, and got same results.

adamsmith, okay, I just assumed that .gov sites might have correct metadata. LOL... should have known ;-) JK
  • bwiernik is right -- this definitely isn't APA style. APA auto-generated from that page is

Milestones in U.S. Food and Drug Law History - Significant Dates in U.S. Food and Drug Law History. (n.d.). [WebContent]. Retrieved October 4, 2017, from https://www.fda.gov/aboutfda/whatwedo/history/milestones/ucm128305.htm

Also not right (which was my point), but APA will never use quotation marks and will use "Retrieved" not "Accessed"
