Zotera for FireFox on Mac

I can no longer access my zotero library from Firefox. I have installed a new version 5 of zotero and a new Fire fox version.
When I tried to sync the library I have been reverted to a previous version and have lost massess of reference data.
I am also unable to get the icon in the Firefox menu bar to work (I have downlaoded zotero connnector but it does not 'add'

Can anyone advise

Have you downloaded the standalone Zotero app? With Zotero 5, Zotero always runs as a completely separate program from Firefox.

Yes thank you! - I have done that and have now figured out the new connector from Firefox but still there seems to be 3 month of data lost - I recently updated Firefox as well and have a file containing 'old firefox data' which has a zotera file - I am wondering if there is anyway of retrieving this to try to sync the files from the last 3 months?

That is likely the issue. You probably hadn’t been syncing for those 3 months. You can restore the Zotero library in the old Firefox data folder with these instructions.
