Put "author-date" sources in footnotes, not text

I need to create footnotes in the "author-date" style. Previously, my document had footnotes in the "full note" style. However, when I made the switch from "full note" to "author-date", the source went from being a footnote to being in the text. How do I make "author-date" style sources go to the footnotes, not be inside the text?
