Search and replace or batch tag/field editing

I often harvest a bunch of references from Google Scholar, and for each reference I have to add the author's first name (Google only gives initials). If I have ten references by the same author, I have to tinker with each name. It would be nice to be able to select ten entries and change all instances of "M. Smith" to "Mary Smith" rather than typing each one individually. Like an mp3 tag editor where I can select a bunch of tracks and say they're by the same artist.

(I do like the autocomplete function that suggests a first name when I give a last--that makes it easier.)
