Problem redirection proxy

Hi,

I would like to report a problem I am facing when trying to access a site (e.g. an Elsevier site) through my institution proxy. I am using Chrome (with Zotero Connector) with a personal Google account. When I either use Edge or a guest account on Chrome, everything works fine.

Here is the Debug ID: D1718440830

Best,
Tom
  • What's the problem?
  • Well, I don't know what you can see from the report, but I get stuck at the redirecting tab. For example if I want to access a paper from my university e-library service, I end up on this site:
    http://linkinghub.elsevier.com.ezproxy.utu.fi/retrieve/pii/S0016648016303367
    And nothing happens.

Since Zotero can handle proxy redirection, I thought this could be the problem.

If you disable proxy redirection in the Proxies pane of the Zotero Connector preferences (or just disable the Zotero Connector), does the problem go away?
  • But when you paste that link into Edge or the other Chrome profile it works, right?

    For testing, put
    chrome-extension://ekhagklcjbdpajgpjgmbionohlpdbjgc/preferences/preferences.html#proxies

in the Chrome bar and press return, try disabling Proxy redirection and see if that fixes the issue. If it does, that'd be a very clear indication that the problem is Zotero's.

(Generally error reports only tell developers your basic set-up as well as actual errors thrown by Zotero; they're often useless without a description of the problem they refer to).

  • Hi,
    Thanks for your posts.
So, I tried to disable proxy redirection and even to remove Zotero from Chrome, and it still isn't working.
But yes, if I paste the link to Edge or an other Chrome profile it works.
I guess Zotero is not the problem then?
  • Probably not, but let's make sure. Do you have any other extensions? Have you tried disabling those?
  • Yes, I tried disabling Adblock plus, and indeed, it is now working. With or without Zotero proxy redirection.
Well, it's also working even after reactivating ABP...
But at least it looks like the problem is solved!
    Thanks for your help!
