Upgrade StorageExtracting figures from entries
A highly desirable feature would be to get thumbnails of figures from a publication without having to open it. Is anyone aware of a plugin or other effort to implement this function?

bwiernikExtracting figures specifically, no. sorry. You could install the Zotero QuickLook plugin (https://github.com/bwiernik/ZoteroQuickLook) to be able to use the macOS QuickLook feature in Zotero.
