Linking attachments in Dropbox to Zotero Standalone

Until last week, I used Zotero Firefox and kept attachments (about 1,000 article PDFs) in Dropbox using Zotfile for organization. My computer hard drive crashed and in reconstructing Zotero on my new computer I upgraded to Standalone Zotero 5. My attachments are now not linked to the Dropbox folder. Is there a way to link them again or will I have to link them manually? I changed the default documents folder within Zotero to the Dropbox location, but it still does not work.
  • I'm guessing the reason the link broke isn't Standalone but the move to another computer (with a different name, presumably, so the location of files has changed and the links are broken).

Easiest fix is likely with Zutilo, which allows you to batch change links:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/zutilo-utility-for-zotero/
  • I changed the default documents folder within Zotero to the Dropbox location
Also, which folder did you change exactly? The data directory shouldn't be in Dropbox. The relative links base folder can/should be, but that'll only work if you had already set that up previously, I think.
  • Only the relative links base folder is in Dropbox.

I have used Zutilo with Firefox in the past. It is now a legacy program and appears not to download into Zotero Stand Alone 5.0. When I right-click the "Add to Firefox" button on the Zutilo download page, "Save As" is not an option.
  • You can also download the Zutilo XPI from https://github.com/willsALMANJ/Zutilo/releases (though right-click --> Save As does work for me in the mozilla store, too)
    It works with Zotero 5
  • Did you use relative links on the old computer, too? If that's the case, and you have not changed the sub-folder structure, just assigning the correct relative base path on the new computer should suffice.
