transfering pdf files to Zotero

I looked up the documentation menu and it suggested that I can transfer pdf files to Zotero. It wasn't clear how I could do that. So How do I do it?

    easiest is to just drag them. You can also use "Store copy of file" under the green plus sign. Typically, you'll want to use retrieve metadata afterwards:

    sorry I am so dim! I have pdf files on my tool bar in a Pdf location. I do not have Zotero as a folder that I know of, in say, My documents that I can drag a pdf file to.
    What I get when I click on the Green plus sign is a window with a number of items that I have to fill in to give the information about the article. my pdf articles are saved in a folder. I could drag them, but don't know where to.

    To drag: Just drag from your folder to Zotero itself (the open software). I believe both the middle and the left-hand panel will work.

    Under the green plus sign, use the "Store copy of file" option to add PDFs. Don't pick an item type (if you're on a non-English copy, that's the second one from the bottom).
