Heuristic Virus Alert - 749A4EE5DCA4379323DBC9A60EA7B79C6FD6FB5B

Symantec Endpoint Protection 14 has just flagged this file - 749A4EE5DCA4379323DBC9A60EA7B79C6FD6FB5B - found in C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Zotero\Zotero\Profiles\bdtoybf7.default\cache2\entries (Win 10 Pro x64 running Zotero 5.0.7) as a virus using this technology - https://www.symantec.com/security_response/sape/ . This has happened on two PCs where the file date is 4th August but not on others where the file date is 18th Feb although the files from both dates appear to be exactly the same size.

I rather expect that this a false positive from the heuristic scanner but perhaps someone could confirm?

You can update the suspicious file to https://virustotal.com/ to check it. The text you posted sounds like a heuristic scan result, not a virus analysis.

You can additionally check your computer with Antimalware, look at https://www.emsisoft.com/de/software/antimalware/ - they offer a free version for test reasons.

(This would be a file that was downloaded as part of a webpage — e.g., when saving a snapshot — and cached. It's perfectly safe to delete anything in that cache folder.)
