Zotero is not recognizing Pubmed (and other issues)

Hi,

I'm using Zotero 5.0.7 with Chrome (version 60.0.3112.78) for Windows 8. I've also installed the latest version of the Chrome connector. Recently (about a week ago), what has been happening is that Zotero will not recognize Pubmed. When I visit Pubmed, the default gray "Save Webpage with Snapshot" is there. This occurs when I go to the journal publisher's webpage as well. I've browsed the forums and found that one potential solution is to manually hit the "Update Now" button under the Edit menu of Zotero Standalone. However, when I press this button, I get an error. I've submitted an error report with the ID 803382308.

Looking at the error report, it seems as though there is a problem with Javascript (JavaScript Error: "The connection was refused when attempting to contact wss://stream.zotero.org/.")

I have yet to attempt to uninstall and reinstall Zotero. Before I do so, I wanted to know if there is an easy fix to this problem. Furthermore, I am also hesitant to reinstall Zotero because if I do, I will lose my library. While I have an account synced with Zotero, I'm not sure if it actually works, so before I find out, I wanted to know if there's a quick fix to this problem. The primary problem is that Zotero is not recognizing Pubmed or any journal website for the matter. The secondary problem is that there is an error when I try to update Zotero Standalone manually.

Thanks,
Richik
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling won't affect your data (unless you select the checkbox to delete your data), but there's no need to do that.

Be sure to try all the translator troubleshooting steps (and nothing else).

Updating translators manually isn't necessary — that's really just if you read in the forums that an updated translator was available, and we're working to make it unnecessary even then in 5.0 — but you shouldn't get an error for that. Are you still seeing that?

If you've tried all of the troubleshooting steps, we'd want to see a Debug ID (different from a Report ID) from the connector for loading a page that's not recognized.

Actually, we need to add something to the troubleshooting steps for 5.0 — does Zotero show as online in the Chrome Connector?
