  • I had to repare Firefox and that eradicated Zotero. I installed 5.0 with the result that I can't access to my library from the desktop nor from the menu. How can I get back Zotero 4, it doesn't appear on the download page.

There's still a Zotero 4.0 link on the download page, but if you reset Firefox, reinstalling Zotero 4.0 for Firefox won't restore your data anyway. You should just stay on 5.0 and follow these steps to move your old files to the 5.0 data directory.
  • Sorry, Zotero 4 appears on the download page, but it you try to substitute it the system requires updating for Zotero 5

If you're referring to the incompatible DB error, you're trying to open a 5.0 database in 4.0 (probably the empty initial database). Follow the steps I linked to to open your old data in either 4.0 or 5.0 (but I'd strongly recommend 5.0 at this point).
  • Thank you, dstillman, actually now I have a Z in the dock and must click "show all windows" to open my library. Is it normal ?
Before it was much easier to open zotero and to hide if with the X.
  • I didn't have to follow the steps to move my old files (is it normal ?).
I miss the X a the bottom right of the screen.
I miss the pane at the bottom, it could be enlarged if necessary.
It would be nice if one could choose the collection for saving a document

But, Zotero is fabulous and a big thank to you !
  • 1) Yes, that is the expected behavior.

    3) You can always resize the Zotero application window to be shorter and place it underneath your browser.
    4) Items do save to the currently selected collection.
