Unify journal names across citations

As a long-time and happy Zotero user, I've been grabbing citations from a variety of sources (Google Scholar, Pubmed, journal websites).

Some journals show up with different titles throughout my library. For example, I have the following:
Journal of Neuroscience
Journal of neuroscience
The Journal of Neuroscience
The journal of neuroscience
The Journal of Neuroscience: The Official Journal of the Society for Neuroscience
The Journal of neuroscience : the official journal of the Society for Neuroscience

Which looks quite sloppy in my bibliography.

Is there an easy way to select all items and force them to use the same journal name (if I want to use a style without journal abbreviations)? I just upgraded to Zotero 5.0.
  • Batch editing is not currently possible in Zotero 5.0, so your best option is to do an Advanced Search for 'Publication' 'contains' 'journal of neuroscience' and then quickly paste "Journal of Neuroscience" into each item's publication field.

(@dstillman is there any to access the javascript API in the Zotero 5.0 client? Could an interface like execute-JS be added in the Advanced preferences?)
  • I was afraid I'd have to do it manually. Thanks for your reply!
