FF connector stays gray

The Firefox connector keeps showing a gray Z and doesn't react to clicking. Only right after starting FF it shows the save webpage icon but only in the tab that was open at the beginning, but that too doesn't react and after switching to another tab and back it becomes the gray Z.

I updated standalone to 5.0 yesterday, then removed the FF plugin and installed the connector. What I have tried for troubleshooting until now is removing and reinstalling and disabling all other add-ons, both didn't have any effect.


Edit: This is Firefox ESR 45.9.0 on Windows 7

    Firefox ESR 45 is no longer supported by Mozilla or Zotero. You'll need to update to ESR 52.
