FasterFox but not FireFox?
When I used Fasterfox, the Zotero icon appeared in the status bar lower right of browser.
Since moving back to firefox 3.0.8, I've had nothing but trouble.
Surely Zotero must be reliable with firefox?
It appears in add-ons, I checked identity safe (got Norton 360), but Norton wasn't ever a problem with Fasterfox.
Checked status bar and it is on.
Any ideas as to why the zotero icon is not appearing?
Thanks

You likely just need to uninstall/reinstall Zotero or clear corrupt extension files, as explained on the Mozilla article linked from that page.

Got rid of extensions, re-installed plug-in, redid a new profile for firefox and nothing brings back to Z in the bottom right of browser.
I'm ready to give up on this too-good-to-be-true software :(
In the new profile, do any other extensions show up as being installed other than Zotero?
Z shows up as being installed, why can't I see it in the browser?
Are you still experiencing the issues you posted in the other thread (e.g. a corrupted tools menu)?
If you had a fresh profile (with no other extensions) and zotero did not show up after you installed it and restarted firefox, did you try to delete extensions.ini, extensions.cache, and extensions.rdf?
Same problem - no Z and I really really am starting to get worried about all my research.
Is there another way to access the files which are stored on my PC?
Yes I already tried deleted the extensions before I set up a new profile.
Still no Z
http://www.zotero.org/support/known_issues You stated that it has worked for you in other browsers. You could have one of those browsers use your zotero data directory. Rather than reinstalling the Skype extension, etc., why not try to start with a fresh, extension-less profile & get zotero working before tackling other issues?
It is just when I noticed and moved back to firefox that my troubles started.
Everything worked before, lots of add-ons, extensions, the whole 9 metres.
2) As the Known Issues page indicates, the problem with Skype isn't reliably reproducible, so it might occur in some installations and not occur in others. But if you're seeing it, you should report it to them.
disabled the extension cause there isn't a way to uninstall for some reason
however more serious problem now is to get zotero to recognise the library so I can recover the lost files.
I know where the files are, i don't know how to get zotero to recognise them :(
