Zotero connector fail to download PDFs from ACS sites

Has anyone noticed that Zotero connector for Chrome seems to have trouble downloading PDFs from ACS journals, such as,

http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/acs.jmedchem.7b00293

Here is one error Connector reports.

[JavaScript Error: "getTranslators: detection is already running" {file: "file:///C:/Users/blah/AppData/Local/Google/Chrome/User%20Data/Default/Extensions/ekhagklcjbdpajgpjgmbionohlpdbjgc/5.0.5_0/zotero/translation/translate.js" line: 1136}]

(Zotero standalone ver. 4.0.29.17, Chrome 59.0.3071.109 64-bit, Zotero Connector 5.0.5).

Thanks,
  • When you hover over the Save to Zotero icon, what does it say?
  • It is "embedded metadata".
  • yeah, that's not right. The above URL is exactly as you see it, right? You didn't remove anything like your school's information or so?

Reloading the page doesn't help? How about resetting your translators from the advanced tab of the Zotero preferences (and then restarting Chrome)?
  • Yes. It's been consistent as long as it is ACS journals. Note, I'm behind a corporate firewall. Will try restarting the translators tomorrow. Thanks.
  • I tried reloading the page and also resetting translators, but neither seemed to have helped.
  • Yeah, I'm suspecting your local Firewall is breaking things. Could we get a debug ID for loading/reloading the page from the Chrome connector?

  • It is D16599310. Thanks.

(I submitted the bug info twice 'cause the ID disappeared before I could write it down. I hope it is okay).
  • @cuigl sorry for taking so long to respond. Could you produce the Debug ID for refreshing the page, not clicking on the Zotero Connector? We need to see why it fails to detect the correct translator.

@adamsmith it detects the ACS translator for me, but fails to save anything, so there seems to be a translator bug too.
  • @adomasven ACS translator works fine. I tested it in Firefox as well as Chrome and also the example url above worked fine for me (also I don't have access to the fulltext).
  • @zuphilip whoops, tested on a development version. Seems to work fine with the current release.
  • Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is still relevant. The new ID is D932776451, generated for this link http://pubs.acs.org/doi/abs/10.1021/acs.jpcb.7b03698. Thanks.
