How to merge different citations of same literature? I'm using Word plugin

When I insert citations of the same literature, it is supposed to be the same number. But what I got is the continuous numbering (with Ibid. if they are adjacent).

So how should I configure to merge different citations of the same literature? thx

You are citing different (duplicate) copies in your library. In Zotero, search for the title, select all the duplicates, right click, and choose Merge Items. You can also click on the Duplicate Items collection in the left pane to see all automatically-detected duplicates.

I have checked that many times, I do not have any duplicate items in my library. So does that mean this is not feature and is not supposed to happen? Now my hands are tied...

Solved. I used Chicago Manual of Style 16th edition. It is the feature of this style. I changed to another style, and it is okay know.

Guess I need to learn more about different styles :)
