Zotero Plugin in Conflict with MS Office 2016

I keep getting MS products crashing on the splash screen due to an error with the Zotero Plugin - the error I get is it conflicts with the "data execution prevention" tools and needs to disable the plugin. Is this a known problem and will there be a fix soon? It is making my MS Office products unusable

Zotero plugin needs certain permissions to function properly with Office, which I assume "data execution prevention tools" block (although I'm not sure what are you referring to by these tools). You will likely get this conflict with any word plugins for referencing, so you'll have to resolve the problem yourself, likely by disabling the tools.
