Missing citations in library

I am missing several citations that are in a paper I am working on but no longer exist in my library. I have not deleted anything from my library, so how did they go missing?

Can I export these references from the word doc or do I need to add them AGAIN to my library?
  • Even if I use "Reference Extractor" it only pulls in 53 of the 68 references, despite the fact I can call up any of those references from the "insert citation" with the word doc plugin.

It's not really possible for items to just go missing. Perhaps you created them on another computer that wasn't fully in sync? (If you Toggle Fields Codes and tell us the URL you see in one of the citations, we can tell you if that item was ever synced to the server.)
  • I see this URL:
    {"citationID":"AcUsWXnD","properties":{"formattedCitation":"{\\rtf [12, 15\\uc0\\u8211{}21]}","plainCitation":"[12, 15–21]"},"citationItems":[{"id":"ITEM-1","uris":["http://www.mendeley.com/documents/?uuid=63432161-5aaf-406e-a4cc-9c30e267eb23"],"uri":["http://www.mendeley.com/documents/?uuid=63432161-5aaf-406e-a4cc-9c30e267eb23"],"itemData":{"DOI":"10.1007/s12311-014-0643-7","ISSN":"1473-4230","PMID":"25592071"

I did import some refs from a Mendeley library, but still confused as to what happened...

I just ended up adding them to my Zotero library and all is well again. I think I may have crossed the streams at some point?
  • That's a reference you inserted into the Word document from Mendeley. It was never in Zotero.
  • Ahhh, yes, I converted from Mendeley to Zotero not too long ago. I guess the fact that Zotero was still handling the reference fine in that document is what was throwing me WAY off.

    Easy to fix. Thanks!
