Style Request: Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences (with titles)

edited May 4, 2017
Hi,

Photochemical & Photobiological Sciences (RSC) now requires the title to be included in the bibliography. Can anyone help me out with this?

Thanks!

    Hi,
This would not be a style request, but a style error. ;)
Looking at the style guide here: http://www.rsc.org/journals-books-databases/journal-authors-reviewers/prepare-your-article/#format-layout
For which element should the Title be included?
  • My bad, first time posting here.

It should be included for journal articles.

    Thanks!

The guideline says the following for journal-articles:
Journal articles should be cited in the form: A. Name, B. Name and C. Name, Journal Title, year, volume, page.
It currently outputs it like this:
    J. L. Campbell and O. K. Pedersen, Comp. Polit. Stud., 2007, 40, 307–332.
    Seems correct to me.

Yeah I realize that. The associate editor for the journal asked to include the article titles.
For example from the recent article: http://pubs.rsc.org/en/content/articlepdf/2017/pp/c7pp00054e?page=search

    They now have the format:
    A. Name, B. Name and C. Name, Article Title, Journal Title, year, volume, page
  • (@damnation -- in case that wasn't clear, obviously direct communication from editor beats the published styleguide)
@jhopwood91 -- if you could mention this to the editor? It's not great to have something different published than what you actual want.
  • @adamsmith Yes of course. It seems to be a new change as it wasn't required a couple months ago when we first submitted.

I don't have access to that journal.
Can you copy and paste some of the bibliography?
Further to that, the Photo & Photo style is actually just a dependent style of the main RSC style. So if we change that we'll change about 40 other journals, too (see https://github.com/citation-style-language/journals/blob/master/rsc/_journals.tab).
Could you check some of the other RSC journals' recent publications if they also follow this new title-including style?
