Upgrade StorageWebDAV - open items stored on one computer on a second computer

I use Zotero 4.x on Firefox 53 (Windows 7).
I have a desktop computer and a mobile computer. Both have the Zotero plugin installed and both are synced to the same WebDAV service (not the Zotero Sync server, but another WebDAV service). When I save an item on one computer, I will find the entry on the other aswell. However, I cannot open the associated files (be it a snapshot or a pdf). When I try to open it on the other computer it prompts me to localise the file. Of course the file is not in the local Zotero directory of the second computer. The behaviour I'm expecting is that Zotero open the file from the WebDAV and saves it locally. But that's now what is happening.
