Suggestion for new right-click/context menu option: Create parent item from identifier
Hello,
I thought I'd pass along a suggestion for what is - at least conceivably - a simple feature to add to Zotero. Currently, when a PDF is not associated with any metadata (i.e., it appears in Zotero as a lone PDF), it would be very useful to add an option to the right-click/context menu that allows users to create a parent item from an identifier (e.g., DOI, PMID, etc.). This essentially marries the currently-included features of "Add Item(s) by Identifier" and "Create Parent Item".
Many thanks for an excellent product, and I look forward to the (hopeful) addition of this feature in the near future.

LiborAIt sounds as a good idea. I vote for it.

magicman07Thanks @LiborA, and I hope the Zotero team thinks so, too. It's a common issue I've encountered when trying to attach metadata to my PDFs. My library is rather large, and the automated feature to retrieve metadata, although quite useful and much appreciated, shares the limitations of most metadata retrieval wizards (which, as I understand, the Zotero team continues to work on); as such, the ability to right-click an item and create a parent item from a DOI, PMID, or similar identifier would be a *huge* help. Since a new release of Zotero is currently undergoing beta testing, maybe they can add this feature prior to the full release.
