Best Practices for addressing request to keep local/remote version when syncing group libraries?

Hello,

We use Zotero to curate newsletters, and each newsletter has its own library with perhaps 10-12 members. At least two people are updating the content regularly. When we sync, several members have reported being asked to choose whether to use local or remote versions of records from 1) Other Groups of Which They're a Member, or 2) The Group They're Actively Contributing To/Working With.

Could you please suggest the best way(s) to either make sure these dialog boxes doesn't pop up in the first place, or make the decision re: whether to keep the local or remote version?

Many thanks,
Emily
  • 1) Making sure they don't pop up: use automatic sync and make sure you have completed sync before starting to work on a group
    2) Decisions on what to do: No way to give blanket instructions. If they're not contributing to the group, they should always use the remote version (and it's odd that the message would come up at all). If they are contributing to the group, they should inspect the items and see which is the more relevant/recent one.
