Word 2016 for Mac Add-in

I have gone through all the steps of trying to get the "add-in" to show up on my Microsoft Word 2016 on a Mac. I have deleted zotero and all plug-ins and then downloaded everything all over again. The plug-in is showing up on my File Locations-Startup folder. If I open up zotero.dot directly from my documents (like a Word document) the add-in tab shows up. But when I open up a new or old document from Word the tab is no longer there. What do I do?
  • Try removing the Zotero.dot file from the startup folder and instead placing this Zotero.dotm: https://github.com/zotero/zotero-word-for-mac-integration/raw/master/install/Zotero.dotm
  • Ok, that seems to work. I just have to go to the Word documents tools -> templates and add-ins -> and then check the box for zotero.dotm when I open a new document. But if that is the only thing I have to do to get the tab, then I can live with that. Thanks.
  • We have had quite a few reports of this happening and I'd like to get to the bottom of this. Was Zotero.dot not appearing in tools -> templates -> add-ins at all? Or did you only try looking for Zotero.dotm there? Is there anything peculiar/specific about your system config? Custom security software?
  • It was not appearing when I first opened the add-ins under tools. I then searched for it and added the zotero.dot. It now shows up under the tool/add-ins when I open a new document, but I have to click on the box next to zotero.dot every time (for new documents). The same thing is happening with the zotero.dotm, but what I see on my Microsoft toolbar looks much better than what I had with the zotero.dot. I don't think I have anything special security measures on my Mac. Zotero was working fine with my Word 2008. This just became a problem when I updated to Word 2016.
