Software update failed

When I start Zotero, I get a windows entitled "Software update failed" with the following message: "The update could not be installed. Please make sure there are no other copies of Zotero running on your computer, and then restart Zotero to try again."

I guess an update has been downloaded but couldn't be installed. What could I do to fix this?
  • OK, I answer myself, it was my fault, I had given writing permissions to the Zotero folder so as to allow automatic updates, but the subfolders still belonged to root with no writing permissions for my user. I'll leave this here, if you allow me, in case other people do the same and look for information.
  • Addition: For Win10 & Win11 users, "Run as Administrator" could solve this problem.
